On Saturday evening, April 4th, my esteemed collaborators and I will have the pleasure and honor of celebrating the musical legacy of John Coltrane in the centennial year of his birth.

The ensemble for this concert is:

Richard Howell – saxophones, vocals
Sheldon Brown – saxophones, bass clarinet, Chinese flute
Darren Johnston – trumpet
Frank Martin – piano
Fred Randolph – double bass
Kendrick Freeman – drum set, hand drums
Ian Dogole – udu, djembes/doumbek, ankle bells, kalimba, talking drum, misc. percussion

John Coltrane (by Bill Lee, Spike Lee's father)

Togo (from my "Quinta Essentia" release)
Blue Nile (Alice Coltrane piece from my "Outside the Box" release)

Afrikahn Jahmal Dayvs, host of JaZzLine SESSIONS on KPFA and KKUP, and founder of the JaZzLine INSTITUTE, will be emceeing the show.
